"La notte in cui mi dissero che Pierre Restany era morto, fui scosso da un'improvvisa e violenta commozione. Sapevo che era gravemente malato, ma le sue lettere recenti rivelavano fiducia e speranza. Quando lo incontrai per la prima volta, a metà degli anni Settanta, a Milano all'Hotel Manzoni, gli raccontai dei miei viaggi nell'Amazzonia peruviana. La parola Amazzonia fu la chiave che ci mise immediatamente in contatto spirituale: anche lui amava molto quella foresta e conosceva profondamente quel mondo. Da allora ci incontrammo molte volte e sempre emerse il nostro amore per la Natura. Era profondamente affascinato dall'eterno mistero della Natura, anche se, negli anni, riusciva a percepirne l'essenza più completa solo dall'aereo, come ironicamente sottolineava nelle sue lettere. Pierre Restany, fondatore del Nouveau Réalisme, fu un critico carismatico e un libero pensatore che influenzò notevolmente il mondo dell'arte contemporanea. Viveva da più di trent’anni a Milano, all’Hotel Manzoni, nella “storica” camera 312. Dopo la sua scomparsa ho pensato di rendergli omaggio con questo progetto, che non solo è dedicato a lui, ma è incentrato su di lui.

L'installazione ricreerà la decorazione originale della Stanza 312. Post-it gialli galleggianti ricopriranno interamente le pareti della stanza. Questo oggetto più noto, così comunemente usato per ricordare eventi, è l'elemento base del progetto "Camera 312 promemoria per Pierre": un modo semplice, diretto, colorato e dinamico per far sì che ogni artista invitato annoti la propria testimonianza poetica."

"The night when I was told that Pierre Restany had passed away, I was suddenly and violently moved. I knew that he was seriously ill, but his recent letters revealed confidence and hope.  When I first met him, in the middle of the seventies, in Milan at Hotel Manzoni, I told him about my travels in the Peruvian Amazon. The word Amazon was the key that immediately put us into a spiritual contact: he loved a lot that forest as well, and he deeply knew that world. Since then we met many times and always our love for Nature came out. He was deeply fascinated by the eternal mystery of Nature, even if, in the years, he could perceive its most comprehensive essence only from the airplane, as he ironically used to point out in his letters. Pierre Restany, founder of New Realism, was a charismatic critic and free-thinker who greatly influenced the world of contemporary art. He had been living for more than thirty years in Milan, at Hotel Manzoni, in the “historic” room 312. After his death I thought I could honour him with this project, which is not only dedicated to him, but it is centred around him.

The installation will re-create the original decoration of Room 312. Floating yellow Post-it will entirely cover the walls of the room. This most known object, so commonly used to remember events, is the basic element of the project “Camera 312 promemoria per Pierre”: it’s a simple, direct, coloured and fluxus way to make every invited artist note his own poetic testimonial."
